Emma McGowan, alumni and community relations manager at Winchester House School, said: “Winchester House School lost many former pupils, members of staff and family members during the world wars, and we remember them individually every year at our Act of Remembrance Service where our head boy and head girl read out the alumni names. We are also joined by Housians (alumni) at the service who have been in the forces and return to school to pay their respects and take part in the service. Our school motto is 'Non Nobis Solum' - meaning not for ourselves alone - and it remains very important for us to remember those who gave their lives, service and future happiness to save us. With VE day’s 75th anniversary on Friday, we thought what better way to remember and celebrate the loved ones of community members than by a photo gallery on social media. We have received fantastic feedback by people who have loved hearing about wartime lives.”
